Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Polaris Labs LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of the Lau app ("Lau" or "the app"). By downloading or using Lau you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. Who can use Lau

Lau is for parents and guardians. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to set up Lau, start a subscription or change its settings. You may set Lau up on a device a child uses, as long as you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or have their permission.

2. What Lau does

Lau uses Apple's Screen Time features to help you limit what a device can open: for example, apps and websites you choose, apps above an age rating, adult websites, short-video sites, and schedules such as bedtime. Rules apply only while Kid Mode is on.

Lau depends on features Apple provides and controls. Anyone who knows the device passcode can turn off Lau's Screen Time access in Settings. No filter is perfect. Lau does not guarantee that every unsuitable app, website or piece of content will be blocked, and it is not a substitute for a parent's supervision.

3. Subscription and free trial

• Lau offers an auto-renewing monthly subscription. New subscribers may be offered a free trial of 7 days. The price and trial length are shown in the app before you subscribe.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID when the trial ends, or at purchase if no trial applies.
• The subscription renews automatically each month at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel the subscription in your device's Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
• Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• If we change the price, Apple will tell you in advance as its rules require.

4. Your responsibilities

You agree to use Lau only lawfully, and only on devices you own or have the right to manage. You are responsible for keeping your device passcode and your Lau parent PIN private.

5. Our content and license

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use Lau on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple's Usage Rules. The app, its name, the Lau character, artwork and code belong to Polaris Labs LLC. Don't copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell them, except where the law allows it.

6. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Lau or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you. If Lau fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Where these terms differ from Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, Apple's terms apply to the extent required.

7. Disclaimers

Lau is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free or block all unsuitable content.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Polaris Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for content a child accesses despite Lau's settings. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Lau in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Ending

You can stop using Lau at any time by turning off Kid Mode, removing its Screen Time access and deleting the app (and cancelling the subscription in Settings). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. We'll post the new version at this address and change the date above. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app. Using Lau after a change means you accept it.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live gives you rights that can't be waived.
