Privacy Policy

Polaris Labs LLC ("we", "us") makes the Lau app. This policy explains what Lau does with information. The short version: Lau keeps everything on the device, and we don't collect, see, sell or share any of it.

What Lau stores, and where

Everything below stays on the device where Lau is installed. None of it is sent to us.

• Your rules: the settings you choose, such as which apps and websites to block, schedules and daily limits.
• Your parent PIN: stored only as a salted, one-way hash in the device's Keychain. We can't read it or recover it.
• App and website choices: when you pick apps or sites in Apple's picker, Apple gives Lau anonymous tokens, not app names. Lau can't tell which apps they are.
• Screen time reports: the weekly report is drawn by Apple in a protected area of iOS. Lau's own code never receives which apps were used or for how long, and nothing in the report can leave the device.

What we collect

Nothing. Lau has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. It doesn't use the camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos.

Apple

Lau relies on Apple's Screen Time features, and subscriptions are bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles your payment, Apple ID and subscription records under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). We receive no payment details. Apple may tell us anonymous, combined sales figures.

Links

The app links to published research and to these policies. Those pages open in your browser and are covered by their own privacy policies.

Children

Lau is set up and managed by a parent or guardian. It doesn't collect personal information from children, or from anyone. A child using a device with Lau sees only Apple's block screen and Lau's own screens, and nothing they do is sent to us.

Deleting your information

Because everything lives on the device, you control it. Turn off Kid Mode, then delete Lau: this removes your rules and settings. To remove Lau's Screen Time access, go to Settings › Screen Time. To cancel a subscription, go to Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.

Changes

If Lau starts collecting any information, we'll update this policy first, change the date above, and tell you in the app.
